September 17, 2026 - From Ominous Thrill comes Her Horrorween, a fifteen-episode women authored horror anthology season releasing throughout October. Where Ominous Thrill stories have always led with female protagonists centering feminist themes, it has rarely been as explicit as what’s coming next. Starting October 1st, through a slate of fifteen “sound rich” episodes, Her Horrorween reveals what horror can do when women are its authors and its subject.

This special season will deliver stories in active, and sometimes brutal, conversation with the nature of horror when it's authored by a woman. The episodes move through bodily autonomy and its violation, the specific horrors of reproduction and motherhood, predation and its supernatural consequences, collective female justice, Indigenous mythology as a horror vehicle, and the quieter terrors of emotional labor and grief. They tell tales of what a woman becomes when she finally decides what to do about the thing that has always threatened her.

"Women don't need invented monsters to know fear,” says creator Jeff Schmidt. “The horror written from inside that lived experience is one of the genre's greatest strengths. I'm thrilled to celebrate it with Her Horrorween."

Ominous Thrill is an award winning, genre-bending audio drama known for its character-driven

adult dark fiction. Each story features exceptional actors and sounds so vivid, you feel like a witness. Her Horrorween is Ominous Thrill's first season-format event and its first narrated anthology. This creative expansion celebrates women-authored horror, to tell fearsome tales from fearless women.

The production brings the high-quality sound experience that creator Jeff Schmidt is known for from his work on acclaimed non-fiction audio series which have collectively surpassed 100 million downloads.
